April 9th 2011 was a very scary evening for all of us at the Midland SPCA.
Several grass fires were out of control and moving closer to our shelter so we decided it was time to evacuate our animals. Moving seventy plus-animals is a monumental task even under normal circumstances. Phone calls were made to Midland Animal Services and to the Lone Star Animal Sanctuary. Soon trucks, crates and trailers started arriving. Shelter staff quickly loaded puppies, kittens, dogs, cats and even a bunny and soon were on their way to safety.
We would like to express our deepest gratitude to those organizations, and to others who responded so quickly and unselfishly. One thing we learned from this harrowing experience was that we did not have enough crates on hand or a trailer at our disposal. If anyone would care to donate either of these items, we would be very greatful, Once again on behalf of the Midland SPCA and the animals we thank youSeveral grass fires were out of control and moving closer to our shelter so we decided it was time to evacuate our animals.
